WEEK 3 – Learning to Live Open-handed


Good Morning Ladies!

So much positive energy and enthusiasm during our time together on Thursday! How exciting!

Welcome to Week 3!!!

Today during my quiet time I was lead to read Colossians 3:2 – "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." This verse fits perfectly with Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." When we "set our minds on things above," we look at things from God's perspective and "seek" what He desires. With so much going on in the world around us, when we follow after Christ, we can love and serve those around us. Regard the world as God does and live in harmony with Him!

In Philippians 4:8, Paul tells us to "Think on These Things" - … whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

JOY!

  Thank You Lord for the joy that gives me strength.  Definition if Joy - a feeling of great pleasure and happiness; emotion evoked by well-being, success or good fortune. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23   “Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!” Nehemiah‬ ‭8:10‬b‬‬ “You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.’” Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Joy is something that goes much deeper than happiness. Happiness is a mental or emotional state. Joy is what causes you to be happy. Joy is the source of our strength according to God’s Word. That source is the Lord. God doesn't just want us to be happy. Advent Season

    Advent Season started November 30th 2025 and ends December 24 th , 2025   Advent means the coming of Christ /period leading up to Christmas. It is the first season of the Christian Church year. On each of the four Sundays preceding Christmas, an Advent candle is lit. The 4 candles of Advent are Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace, representing the virtues Jesus brought us. The 4 candles are arranged on a circular Advent wreath, with no beginning or end, reminding us of the eternity of God's love and the everlasting love we find in Jesus.    Together the Advent candles are a reminder of God's promise to us of salvation through Christ.   The first candle purple -Hope(can be called the Prophesy Candle) symbolizes a shining light in anticipation of the coming of Christ and represents God's forgiveness of man's sins.   The second candle-Love is usually purple or violet.
