What is Worship?
Worship is not the slow song
that the choir or praise team sings. Worship is not the amount you place in the offering
basket or small group or Bible Study you sign up for or lead. Worship is not volunteering as a greeter or in children's ministry. Yes, these may be
acts or expressions of worship, but they do not define what true worship really
is.
Worship is defined by the
priority we place on who God is in our lives and where God
is on our list of priorities. True worship is a matter of the heart expressed
through a lifestyle of holiness. If our lifestyle does not express the beauty
of holiness through an extravagant or exaggerated love for God, and do not live
in extreme or excessive submission to God, then let’s make worship a
non-negotiable priority in your lives.
We worship God because he is
God. Period.
“Worship Him in the Spirit
and in truth” (John 4: 24). A whole new world opened up. We can meet God
anywhere at any time, enabled by his Spirit, even at work!
“Let the one who is thirsty
come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life”
(Revelation 22:17). This is what sustains, refreshes, nourishes, and
strengthens us—this water of life, the only true elixir that will give us
eternal worshipping life.
"Let all creation
rejoice before the LORD…” Psalm 96:13a NIV
Be blessed and be a blessing!
