Great Blue Herons
Herons are long-legged, long-necked, freshwater and coastal birds in the family Ardeidae, with 75 recognized species, some of which are referred to as egrets or bitterns rather than herons.
Heron
symbolism centers on patience, balance, self-reliance, and quiet wisdom,
stemming from their hunting style of stillness and sudden action, representing
knowing when to act versus when to observe, bridging earthly and spiritual
realms, and offering good luck or guidance in various cultures. They symbolize
adaptability, transformation, and deep inner knowing, often appearing as
messengers of change or protectors of waterways.
The great
blue heron is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the
shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North and Central America, as
well as far northwestern South America, the Caribbean and the Galápagos
Islands.
