What Are You Wearing?

 

 

Are you like me most days wondering, "What should I wear today?" Looking through my closet picking out just the right outfit and making sure everything matches, hair, make-up just right. One final glance in the mirror before walking out the door.

The Bible clearly tells us how we should clothe ourselves in Colossians 3:12-14...

Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].

Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive].

 

And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony].

So, what are you wearing today?

I remember so of the phrases I've heard my mother and others say over the years - beauty is only skin deep; it's not what's on the outside the counts, it's what's on the inside; man looks at the outward appearance but God sees our hearts.

Re-read the passage above (try different translations), meditate on the words, pray and maybe it's time we have a change of heart today.
