Bible Study Skill/Tools – Key Word Search

Have ever wondered what the Bible has to say on a certain subject?

Have you, like me, found yourself Googling “what does the Bible say about … ?” only to find multiple (and sometimes conflicting!) views on whatever subject may be at hand.

Doing a keyword search in my Bible or Bible app often helps me gain a deeper meaning of what God’s Word actually has to say on a certain topic.

I LOVE using BibleGateway.com to do keyword searches! I type in the word I want to study and what version of the Bible I want to use, and it pulls up the verses on that subject! Here below is what it looked like when I did a keyword search on faith.

With over 507 results and the ability to view other translations, context, or the whole chapter, I found myself in awe of God’s Word and how it all fits together to speak straight into my life today!

I would like to challenge you to pick any small book of the Bible (or long passage that can be read in one sitting) and read the whole thing for several days or even weeks in a row, looking for something different every day … such as references to God one day, to Jesus the next, to His promises, His provision, His faithfulness and so on. As you read, look for things you’ve never seen before in those verses, let them speak to you personally, seek a fresh deeper understanding of God’s Word.

I love that I can do key word reading any time, with nothing more than my Bible!

Hebrews 11, often called “The Hall of Faith,” by many Bible scholars.  So I encourage you to continue your walk of faith by reading Hebrews 11 (or another passage if you like) for several days, a few weeks or even a month. Whatever works for you…As you read the same words/verses over and over again, let them soak deep within your soul and change you.

All That is Within Me

If you are like me and have an iPhone, you've probably spent the last couple days trying to figure out all the updates. If you have more than one Apple device, such as an iPad, you've spent even more time updating it as well. Or maybe that's on your to-do list for today (or tomorrow). It's not a quick update, it takes a fair amount of time; then once you update, you've got to reset a few things. So, that got me to thinking, have I spent the same amount of time alone with God, reading His Word, reaching out to other believers, or witnessing to the lost? I must confess, my answer would have to be "no." God loves us so much, He rejoices when we call on Him, when we reach out to Him in prayer, and when we meditate on His Word. He's so patient and so full of grace. I keep thinking back to the scripture: Deuteronomy 6:5 - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. All means completely, entirely; for ...

Good Friday

Happy Good Friday   This is the day that we remember what Jesus did for us --- enduring beating, mocking, and being crucified.   I imagine his disciples did not consider it to be a “good” Friday at the time. But what makes it GOOD is what happened on Sunday --- when Jesus did the impossible and rose from the dead.    Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.  ~ 1 Peter 1:18-19 ESV   One of the best ways of celebrating Jesus and His Resurrection…is through family traditions.    Family traditions can be as simple as attending  ️  church and having lunch or brunch together.    Jesus was a story-teller. I believe he knew the power of a story to capture hearts and bring joy while effectively delivering a specific message. He often used parables to tea...
