Words of Wisdom



Benefits of Wisdom - (Proverbs 2:1-6) 

2 My son, if you accept my words
    and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
    and applying your heart to understandingā€”
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
    and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
    and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
    and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

What does it mean to:
ā€“Accept my words
ā€“Store up my commands
ā€“Turn your ear to wisdom
ā€“Apply your heart to understanding
ā€“Call our for insight
ā€“Cry aloud
ā€“Look for it
ā€“Search for it as hidden treasure

Accept my words. Get into Godā€™s Word.

Store up my commands. Let Godā€™s Word get into you.

Turn you ear to wisdom. Listen to wise instruction from God and wise people.

Apply your heart to understanding. Apply wise instruction to your current situation.

Call out for insight. Ask God for insights you wouldnā€™t think of on your own.

Cry aloud. Pray out loud over situations where you need wisdom.

Look for it. Actively look for Godā€™s revelations. Look for the hand of God in everything.

Search for it as hidden treasure. Treat wisdom as one of the greatest treasures you could acquire.

Pursue Wisdom ā€“ a true search for knowledge, understanding and wisdom will lead you to God, and then youā€™ll understand the fear (reverence) of the Lord. ā€“ Pastor Chuck Smith

Wisdom is the ability to cope with the demands of life in healthy and constructive ways. The book of Proverbs is rich in biblical wisdom to help guide us to meet these daily demands.

All That is Within Me

If you are like me and have an iPhone, you've probably spent the last couple days trying to figure out all the updates. If you have more than one Apple device, such as an iPad, you've spent even more time updating it as well. Or maybe that's on your to-do list for today (or tomorrow). It's not a quick update, it takes a fair amount of time; then once you update, you've got to reset a few things. So, that got me to thinking, have I spent the same amount of time alone with God, reading His Word, reaching out to other believers, or witnessing to the lost? I must confess, my answer would have to be "no." God loves us so much, He rejoices when we call on Him, when we reach out to Him in prayer, and when we meditate on His Word. Good Friday

  Happy Good Friday   This is the day that we remember what Jesus did for us --- enduring beating, mocking, and being crucified.   I imagine his disciples did not consider it to be a ā€œgoodā€ Friday at the time. But what makes it GOOD is what happened on Sunday --- when Jesus did the impossible and rose from the dead.    Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.  ~ 1 Peter 1:18-19 ESV   One of the best ways of celebrating Jesus and His Resurrectionā€¦is through family traditions.    Family traditions can be as simple as attending  ļø  church and having lunch or brunch together.    Jesus was a story-teller.
