Humility and Boldness

Read Ephesians 3:1-13 No one can stand against the evidence of a changed life. A person’s living testimony of God’s deliverance and transformation cannot be dismissed. This is why our “But God” stories are so important. It’s His light shining within us that draws others to him. Pray that God would give you boldness to proclaim His Word. After describing his role as a steward of God’s grace, Paul emphasizes how unworthy he is of that calling claim to be the “least of all the saints” (3:8). Elsewhere he calls himself “the least of the apostles, not worthy to be called and apostle” (1 Cor 15:9) and the foremost sinner (1 Tim 1:15). Why would Paul emphasize his unworthiness? What does God’s work through someone like Paul communicate about Christ’s redeeming power?  Have you ever felt like God could use you to accomplish His purposes? Some of the most unlikely characters in the Bible were used in God’s plan (Exodus 4; Joshua 2; Ruth 1-4). Identify other verses or stories th...

Hope

Trust God - In Him we have Hope!   Called to Hope : Click here  to listen to Podcast   The biggest implication God’s sovereignty has for our lives today is hope. When we talk about the word hope, we usually equate it to wishful thinking. But the authors of the Bible understood the word hope to be the expectancy of a promised outcome or the waiting period before a promise was carried out.   When war appears unending, God will one day give us peace.   When Christians are bullied for their values, God will be their defense.   When families split apart, God offers a family that will never divide.   When society undergoes changes, God will remain unchanging.   Just because the trends of society seem to move away from God’s values, He doesn’t move away from us. God isn’t going anywhere. Our hope transcends what is today and trusts in what God will do tomorrow.   The Spirit prays for you. God wants to lift you above all t...

Happy Independence Day!

Let's Celebrate  Independence Day! Independence Day 2021, also known as Fourth of July, is a federal holiday observed yearly on July fourth. It is the anniversary of the publication of the declaration of independence of the United States of America from Great Britain in 1776. The history of Independence Day 2021 dates back to the 18th century and the American Revolution (1775-83). In June 1776, representatives of the 13 colonies then fighting in the revolutionary struggle weighed a resolution that would declare independence of the United States from Great Britain. On July 2, the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain occurred, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia. Two days later its delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin. Historians have long disp...

Juneteenth 2021

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. It is also called Emancipation Day or Juneteenth Independence Day. The name “Juneteenth” references the date of the holiday, combining the words “June” and “nineteenth.” From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond.   Today Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It is a day, a week, and in some areas a month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics and family gatherings. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing. It is a time for assessment, self-improvement and for planning the future. Its growing popularity signifies a level of maturity and dignity in America long overdue. In cities across the country, people of all races, nationalities and religions are joining hands to truthfu...

Memorial Day

"May We Never Forget" Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work w...

Can God Be Found?

Can God Be Found?   Let me introduce you to God… Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious.     For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:  to an unknown god . So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you." Acts 17:22-23 All of us were created to worship – we will worship something or someone. The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. Acts 17: 24 Colossians 1:16 says, all things were created by God and For Him. In America there are two idols – religion and self. God comes first – it’s not about me, it’s all about God. He lives in every born again Christian –“it’s an inside job.” God is the ruler of everything and the Provider of everyt...
