Preparation

PREPARATION IS KEY
Esther

The women presented to the King in chapter 2 had to undergo a 12-month beauty treatment…yet we complain about spending 10 or 30 minutes dolling ourselves up. Similar to Ruth (3:3), preparation was paramount. Good things require intense preparation, for it is during the preparation period that you will know if what you’re preparing for is truly worth it.

PURITY

The King desired for his ‘new’ queen to be a virgin. This highlights ‘purity’ as a trait that is strongly associated with being a virgin. Although today and undoubtedly back then, being a virgin does not automatically mean that you are pure in heart. Purity is necessary, not just for us, but also for others. If Esther wasn’t ‘pure’, she would not have been chosen and consequently go on to do the great exploits that saved lives as we will see later in the challenge.

‘My purity isn't simply a declaration or meeting a goal but it is my passport to carry out my purpose here on earth’ – Micah Robinson

Esther’s purity was the precursor to her fulfilling her purpose. We must strive to be pure in heart and live a life of purity, with the grace to fulfil our God-given purpose.

FAVOR

Esther was an orphan and a Jew, but her background did not stop God from favoring her. Why? Because she was obedient. Your past or background will not stop God from favoring you; the only thing that is a hindrance is disobedience.

Esther was constantly obedient to Mordecai even when they weren’t together (verse 20). How many of us still obey our parents or any legitimate authority outside of their presence? Remember, partial or delayed obedience is still disobedience.

Esther was FAVORED. She didn’t have to carry anything extra to the King like the other women. She was good just the way she was. The king was attracted to Esther above all and she won his favor. When you honor God through your obedience, He will make the things that people toil for so easy for you!

Esther was LOYAL. Some gold-diggers and ‘side chicks’ who hear that someone wants to kill their husband would encourage the perpetrators, in order to claim his wealth or out of spite. Esther could have easily done this, but she was loyal and so was Mordecai!

What are your thoughts?

All That is Within Me

If you are like me and have an iPhone, you've probably spent the last couple days trying to figure out all the updates. If you have more than one Apple device, such as an iPad, you've spent even more time updating it as well. Or maybe that's on your to-do list for today (or tomorrow). It's not a quick update, it takes a fair amount of time; then once you update, you've got to reset a few things. So, that got me to thinking, have I spent the same amount of time alone with God, reading His Word, reaching out to other believers, or witnessing to the lost? I must confess, my answer would have to be "no." God loves us so much, He rejoices when we call on Him, when we reach out to Him in prayer, and when we meditate on His Word. He's so patient and so full of grace. I keep thinking back to the scripture: Deuteronomy 6:5 - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. All means completely, entirely; for ...

Good Friday

Happy Good Friday   This is the day that we remember what Jesus did for us --- enduring beating, mocking, and being crucified.   I imagine his disciples did not consider it to be a “good” Friday at the time. But what makes it GOOD is what happened on Sunday --- when Jesus did the impossible and rose from the dead.    Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.  ~ 1 Peter 1:18-19 ESV   One of the best ways of celebrating Jesus and His Resurrection…is through family traditions.    Family traditions can be as simple as attending  ️  church and having lunch or brunch together.    Jesus was a story-teller. I believe he knew the power of a story to capture hearts and bring joy while effectively delivering a specific message. He often used parables to tea...
