Why worship – Not Just on Sundays
True worship seems to be the
missing jewel in the church today. It should be a place where you come into the
presence of the Living God and He grabs you and doesn’t let you go.
Music has the ability to tie
together the printed page of God’s Book along with the spoken word, prayers and
the arts. As a Christ-Follower, I love God and want to express to Him my praise
and adoration freely and become lost in it.
We serve an awesome God and He
is deserving of our worship whether it’s silent, vocal, melodious or shouting.
In worship we connect with the living Lord.
God wants to see inward
gratitude that leads to outward obedience in the lives of His children. True
worship must come from a thankful heart paired with a life of obedience. The
hidden heart of the worshipper is what matters most to God.
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let
us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us
come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and
song…Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our
Maker; for he is our God. (Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7a)
Psalm 91 looks at the man in
worship, he is dialoging (engaging in conversation) with God in shelter. What happens when that connection
occurs? God is magnified; my horizon enlarges and my perspective changes.
True worship, along with a
thankful heart, will be the natural outpouring of a believer who is committed to
living a live according to God’s Word.
God desires thanksgiving not
sacrifice. (Psalm 50:23, ESV)
