"Sun Stand Still"
God Will Do It
Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel:
“Sun, stand still over Gibeon,
and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”
So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar.
So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar.
The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going
down about a full day. There has never been a day
like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened
to a human being. Surely the Lord was
fighting for Israel!
Skeptics and theologians try to find a plausible explanation or say it didn’t happen. But if you believe “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,” then why should you have a problem with this?
In ancient world history there was a long afternoon or morning as it related to their location at the time of Joshua. The records of the Indians in Central America there was strange day when the sun only came to the horizon for a whole day without coming up.
For me, it’s not just that the miracle happened but that God listened to the voice of one man and fought on Israel’s behalf. This is plain proof that one person can get God’s attention in prayer. God still hears and answers prayer.
"You will seek me and find me when
you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13
"I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me." Proverbs 8:17
