Adding Punch
to Photos in Lightroom
This is probably one of the
easiest things we can do to impact our prized photos. I try to take photos with
the end in mind, so when I upload them I don’t have to spend a lot of time
editing, unless it’s for creative purposes.
So, after you’ve made all
your initial adjustments in the Lightroom Develop Module, to add punch increase
“vibrance” under basic adjustments and increase “blue primary” under camera
calibration.
In this photo above, I made
two adjustments (1) I increased the exposure and (2) checked the boxes under “Lens
Correction” before increasing both vibrance and blue primary. My cameral
settings were F6.3 to blur the background, ISO 400, 600mm, and 1/250 sec.
Usually I shot in aperture priority.
I increased vibrance to 45%,
somewhere between 25-45% should be good; then blue primary was increased to
+40, this setting can be increased up to +100. When making adjustments, try not
to overdo by over processing.
Finally, after you’ve made
all your adjustments you can save them as a preset for future use!
Go forth and add punch to
your photos!!!
