Thinking of You

Jeremiah 29:11-14

I think it's safe to say the many of us are familiar with verse 11 in this chapter, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (NLT) God knows the future and His plans for us are good and full of hope. As long as God, who knows the future, provides for our agenda and goes with us as we fulfill His mission, we can have boundless hope. This does not mean that we will be spared pain, suffering, or hardship but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion (on earth or in heaven).

Verses 12-14 (NKJV): Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord... How awesome are these verses - God is here! He's just waiting for us to call out to Him.

Have you ever lost or misplaced something? How much time did you spend looking for it? Your keys, wallet, cellphone, or whatever...usually we don't stop looking until whatever it is, is found or we determine - it's lost. God is not lost, He is right here, He's always - right here waiting for us!

Dictionary.com defines "seek" as to go in search of or quest of: to seek the truth or to try to find or discover by searching or questioning: to seek the solution to a problem. God is truth and we discover that truth in His Word and He has given us the solution to ALL our problems - His Son Jesus. God is waiting patiently, He can and will be found when you seek the truth. Seek Him with your whole-heart not half-heartedly or lethargically.

In these verses we also reveal to us the mind of God as He thinks about His children (you and me). Amazingly, those thoughts about us produce peace in Him. He is our Father, our Abba Father; yes, Our Daddy and knows that He has placed within each of His children His Spirit - how wonderful is that! God never abandons His own Spirit or those of us in whom the Spirit lives.

Sooner or later the Father knows His child will act upon the inner nudge to call home. Some call out to the Father early in life, others call out later in life but He is always waiting with open arms to welcome us home. He never gives up on us, we give up but He never does. He hears all our prayers!

In the listening, He will not respond with words that condemn us, belittle us, or reject us. In fact on the contrary, the Father doesn't even ask for an explanation He asks only that we come home. And He joyfully say, "Let's eat and be merry: for this my son/daughter was dead and is alive again. he/she was lost and is found." Luke 15:23-24 (NKJV)

  1. Deuteronomy 4:29 says, "And if you search for Him with all your heart and soul, you will find Him."

The question is - Do you want to know God? God promised the Israelites that they would find Him when they searched with all their hearts and souls. The same is true for us today. God is knowable and wants to be known - we have to want to know Him. Acts of service and worship must be accompanied by sincere devotion of the heart.

Hebrews 11:6 says, "Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He sincerely rewards those who sincerely seek Him." God will reward you when you pursue a relationship with Him.

Seek the truth that is found in His Word!

Good Friday

Happy Good Friday   This is the day that we remember what Jesus did for us --- enduring beating, mocking, and being crucified.   I imagine his disciples did not consider it to be a “good” Friday at the time. But what makes it GOOD is what happened on Sunday --- when Jesus did the impossible and rose from the dead.    Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.  ~ 1 Peter 1:18-19 ESV   One of the best ways of celebrating Jesus and His Resurrection…is through family traditions.    Family traditions can be as simple as attending  ️  church and having lunch or brunch together.    Jesus was a story-teller. I believe he knew the power of a story to capture hearts and bring joy while effectively delivering a specific message. He often used parables to tea...

Why God Wants to Bless You!

Why God Wants to Bless You!   “For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away” (Matthew 25:29, ESV). Do you know that God wants to bless you? He wants you to have abundance, lacking no good thing. But He doesn’t want that for you and me so we can merely enjoy our lives. He wants us to steward our resources so we can be better able to reach out to others and bless them in His name. Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 (ESV),   “…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”   The goal is fruitfulness. The goal is God’s Kingdom. The goal is for God’s blessing to flow through us so we might be a blessing to others, to the glory of His name!
